There are currently eight members of the 2011-2012 CASE Executive. In October, we held by-elections to fill the positions of VP Internal, VP External, VP Academic and VP Finance and every spot was filled including an English Literature Member at Large.
Veronica Belafi – President
CASE.president@asfa.ca
Veronica Belafi is currently completing her third and final year at Concordia in Honours English Literature, with a minor in Biology. Her interests stem from the relationship between Science and Literature, including Ecocriticism, neo- and social Darwinism, and representations of the humoral body on the Early Modern stage. In addition to promoting student awareness and activity within C.A.S.E., she would like to coordinate Concordia’s first Undergraduate Literature Colloquium, a venue that will allow for peer reception and discussion of the ideas that most interest the student body.
Jessica Marchand – VP Communications
CASE.communications@asfa.ca
Jess Marchand is in her second year at Concordia and is Majoring in English Literature and Minoring in Classical Civilization and Literature. Her dream is to someday work for a Publishing House as she is interested in being a part of the fabrication and circulation of literature. She is interested in studying the contrast between American and Canadian fiction and would like to make any contribution she can to strenghthening the circulation and popularity of Canadian fiction. As a member of C.A.S.E., Jess would like to increase student awareness and student involvement within her program through her position as the VP of Communications.
Paula Wilson – VP Publications
CASE.publications@asfa.ca
Wilson is in her last year at Concordia with a Joint Honours in English and Creative Writing. Her main academic interests are in entertainment, happiness and the family in late 20th century American literature, and autobiography. She is also an editor for the English Department’s Soliloquies Anthology. As part of C.A.S.E. this year, Paula would like to see an undergraduate academic journal come out of the English department. After finishing her undergraduate degree, Paula would like to write for Being Erica and run the jokes by her stalwart dog companion over a glass of merlot.
CASE.social@asfa.ca
Olivia Taddio is in her second year at Concordia University and is enrolled in the Joint Specialization in English and History program. Some of her interests include gender and sexuality, politics, travel, and reading anything she can get her hands on. Her goals this year is to organize many successful and entertaining CASE events for her fellow English department peers.
Alexandra Lee – VP Academic
CASE.academic@asfa.ca
Alex Lee is in her third year at Concordia in Honours English Literature. She enjoys exploring how Shakespeare, Greek Myth, Greek Comedy and Greek Tragedy influence other works of drama and literature. She hopes to have comedy and bacon sprinkled throughout her future career, most likely as a proofreader. As a member of C.A.S.E. this year, Alex wishes to give her fellow English students the opportunity to demonstrate their critical and creative skills outside the classroom. She can not wait to lend a hand coordinating Concordia’s first Undergraduate Literature Colloquium. She would be overjoyed if that colloquium resulted in the publication of an undergraduate academic journal.
Danielle Bird – VP Internal
CASE.internal@asfa.ca
Danielle Bird is in her third and final year at Concordia in Honours English Literature. She is primarily interested in the intersection between anthropology and Victorian proto-feminist literature, and focusing on how representations of bonds between women in this era contribute to this dialogue. With her involvement in C.A.S.E. this year, Danielle hopes to play a role in the execution of our Undergraduate Colloquium. She is also excited at the prospect of meeting many new students within the department, and in so doing, getting all of you involved in and informed about C.A.S.E.’s academic and social events.
Matthew Dunleavy – VP External
CASE.external@asfa.ca
Matthew Dunleavy is currently completing his studies at Concordia in Honours English Literature. Matthew has joined CASE in hopes to build up the awareness of events and opportunities open to all our department; in addition to promoting cross-department/faculty events that will hopefully open up a wider range of possibilities for all Concordia students. This interest in multi-department events stems from his own experience in art, drama, photography, and other non-English Lit hobbies.
Liv Albert – VP Finance
CASE.finance@asfa.ca
Liv is currently completing her third year at Concordia, majoring in both English Literature and Classical Civilizations. She enjoys linking any and everything to classical mythology – often to the dismay of those around her. She enjoys long walks on the beach and clichés. Though that last bit about the beaches is actually true. She hopes, preferably in the near future, to work as a literary agent – that will rock.
Tullia Monaco – Member at Large
CASE.elml@asfa.ca
Tullia Monaco is completing her third and final year in Honours English Literature, with a minor in Theatre. Her interests include food, travel, and Shakespearean folklore. She is in love with William Shakespeare and finds much inspiration in the works of John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester. Through her work as Acting Member at Large, she is excited to spend the year getting to know her fellow English students and spreading awareness of C.A.S.E.
